Our story

Opened to reveal the crystal within

Millions of years ago, gas bubbles were trapped inside volcanic rock. As they cooled, mineral-rich water seeped in and, over a very long time, crystallised into the lining of purple amethyst we see today. The finished geode is a plain rock on the outside — until it is carefully cracked open to reveal a hollow ringed with glittering purple crystals. Geoda brings these amethyst geodes from Spain, opened to show the crystal heart inside, ready to sit on a shelf or table and catch the light.

How it's made

The geodes are collected and carefully cracked open to reveal the crystal lining within. They are lightly cleaned, so the purple crystals show at their best, and left as nature made them — each one unique.

How to use it

Set a geode on a shelf, a side table or a windowsill where it can catch the light. It needs no care beyond a light dusting. Each piece is unique, so the one you choose is the one that is yours.

Good to know

Why are the sizes different?

Geodes come in all sizes from nature. We offer small, medium and large so you can choose the piece that fits your shelf or table.

How do I care for it?

It needs no care beyond a light dusting. Keep it out of prolonged direct water and it will stay beautiful for as long as you keep it.

Is it a decoration or a mineral?

It is a natural mineral formed over millions of years, and it is sold here as a piece of decor — to sit on a shelf or table and catch the light. It is not a treatment or remedy.

Is every geode unique?

Yes — no two geodes are alike. Each has its own shape, size and depth of purple, which is part of what makes it a special piece of the earth.

Why is it purple?

The purple colour comes from iron within the crystal as it formed, over a very long time, in the mineral-rich water that filled the cavity. It is a natural colour of the stone.

What is an amethyst geode?

It is a hollow rock, formed millions of years ago from a trapped gas bubble in volcanic rock, whose inner lining has crystallised into purple amethyst. Opened, it shows its crystal heart.
